On being introspective
Every career is a crooked path, long and winding with many unexpected digressions. Most of the wrong turns come from looking outward rather than inward, and this is something that is completely in your control.
On career enrichment
As with most things, pursuing enrichment requires that we take accountability for our own careers, that we take risks, make ourselves vulnerable, and get back up off the canvas as many times as is necessary.
On the danger of being too passive
You slide out of bed, follow your pre-work routine, take satisfaction from getting through the day and focus on resting up to repeat the process tomorrow. Time flies past. If you perform well over time you may benefit from having opportunities fall your way, but you are rarely the driving force behind these changes. You slowly become a passenger rather than a driver in your career.
On work performance
Always remember that the best representation of your capabilities is the quality of your work. Everything else changes with the wind.
